Happy Fruitful Friday Reader! AND Good Friday! How has your Holy Week been? This past week is known as Holy Week. It began with Palm Sunday—the day Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey—and ended with Resurrection Sunday. As a kid, I remember waving palm branches on Sunday and then celebrating Easter without too much thought of what transpired in between. Have you thought about how the whole week's events would have felt to live them out? A Holy Week Transformation. Why worship?Reader, I've been thinking a lot about what it would be like to have watched Jesus enter Jerusalem on the donkey, knowing that He was fulfilling the prophecy from Zechariah 9:9. Would I have been skeptical and seen HIs move as purely political? Honestly, I am usually wary about politics and the news. Maybe I have been swept up with the crowd and worshipped Jesus because everyone else was. I get the idea that they were desperate for a Messiah to come and rescue them from the Romans. -But that wasn't what Jesus came to save them from. They were focused on the now and their own needs. Then, I realized that I sometimes bring my agenda and expectations to the table when I worship. I am worshipping for the wrong reasons. I've meditated on that for a while, which led me to four transformative ideas about Holy Week that I wanted to share.
Reader, Easter and Holy Week should transform us. We should be different because of the events that transpired during this week. The disciples were forever changed by watching Jesus die. They had to give up their dreams of an earthly king on the throne of David to understand that Jesus wanted to be the King of their life and sit on the throne of their heart. Have you let Jesus change you? Being transformedLittle Pot, Tea Pot, Oil Lamp, and Small Jar have. They each share what changed in them. I bet you'll find they are the same things that we struggle with, too. When thinking about living through the first Holy Week, it occurred to me how the people of that time did not know the ending. Knowing that Jesus conquers death is what gets us through our struggles. His transformation from death to life makes it possible to celebrate no matter what we face in a week, whether Holy or not.
Wishing you a Happy and Transformative EasterI hope you have a wonderful Easter this year. I will be celebrating with my family. I am so excited that all my children are coming to visit. It is rare for us to be all together at one time. I hope we get a good family photo together. That's even rarer. Haha. If it happens, I'll share it with you on our next fruitful Friday. In the meantime, I pray that if you or your family have never experienced the transformative power of Jesus's resurrection, you will this coming week. Have a happy and transformative Easter. Happy Fruitful Friday Reader! A Need to Understand I have spent a considerable amount of time this past week watching videos and news about the flooding in Texas. I want to understand what happened because my heart is breaking for the families who lost loved ones. I cannot imagine the immense pain a parent goes through when they lose a child. But, even if we cannot understand the circumstances, the Potter can give us peace. This summer, Little Pot has asked our readers to share their...
Happy Fruitful Friday Reader! Do you want to see a real-life example of the fruit of the Spirit being produced in someone? This summer, Little Pot has asked our readers to share their testimonies about when the Potter grew the fruit of the Spirit through them. What I love most about the stories is that they're just everyday situations. We often think of the Holy Spirit performing outlandish and impossible miracles. We forget that showing love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,...
Happy Fruitful Friday Reader! Have you ever tried to share Jesus with an atheist? Reader, I was recently asked to witness and share my testimony with an atheist. It was hard. And, I'll be honest, I wasn't sure I should. You know that whole casting pearls to swine Bible verse? Much of what I did felt like I was throwing valuable pearls to pigs. (That's not me calling the atheist podcast host a pig.) He was a good host. He was just an unbeliever. I share the podcast link and my thoughts after...
