Happy Fruitful Friday Reader! Can you handle the TRUTH?Reader, do you remember Jack Nicholson's famous line, "You can't handle the truth!"? It is from the movie A Few Good Men. Truth is a much deeper topic than you might think. I've talked to God about it these past few weeks. During my travels this past month, I listened to the book. Live Your Truth and Other Lies by Alisa Childers. It is a great book that I highly recommend. You can click on this affiliate link to purchase the book.
I also listened to a podcast called Sold a Story. It is a documentary about how reading has been taught in schools over the past decades. I taught using these reading programs and believed what I was told was the truth. As I listened, I realized that much of what I was taught to believe was false. It made me realize how easy it is to put faith in something untrue. What is your truth grounded in?We can all agree that truth should not be subjective. The term "Your truth" can be dangerous because it describes a truth that is only valid for you. And yet, we all do this every day. We base our truth on our identity, feelings, and emotions. We compare the stuff we hear and see in the media to ourselves. These become our truth. Little Pot, Tea Pot, Oil Lamp, and Small Jar do it too. It is essential to teach our kids that Truth does exist and that the only place we get it from is The Potter, God Himself. In a world where our emotions, perceptions, opinions, social media, Google, and AI shape their reality, understanding the Truth is brutal. That's why I addressed it in this week's blog.
Share a lot with Little Pot.Reader, what is something you believed and later found out was false? Let's check everything we read, hear, and feel against God's Word this week and ask Him to help us discern Truth. TravelsThanks for following! It will be a bit before I send you another Fruitful Friday email. Next week, I'll be at NRB in Dallas. Then, I'm off to Washington State to do a Christian School Author Event for Read Across America. After that, I will travel to the Carolina Christian Writer's Conference and the Great Homeschool Convention in South Carolina. Little Pot and the gang will speak at a Women's Retreat at the end of April. Therefore, you'll know why if you don't hear from me in the next few weeks. Happy Fruitful Friday Reader! A Need to Understand I have spent a considerable amount of time this past week watching videos and news about the flooding in Texas. I want to understand what happened because my heart is breaking for the families who lost loved ones. I cannot imagine the immense pain a parent goes through when they lose a child. But, even if we cannot understand the circumstances, the Potter can give us peace. This summer, Little Pot has asked our readers to share their...
Happy Fruitful Friday Reader! Do you want to see a real-life example of the fruit of the Spirit being produced in someone? This summer, Little Pot has asked our readers to share their testimonies about when the Potter grew the fruit of the Spirit through them. What I love most about the stories is that they're just everyday situations. We often think of the Holy Spirit performing outlandish and impossible miracles. We forget that showing love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,...
Happy Fruitful Friday Reader! Have you ever tried to share Jesus with an atheist? Reader, I was recently asked to witness and share my testimony with an atheist. It was hard. And, I'll be honest, I wasn't sure I should. You know that whole casting pearls to swine Bible verse? Much of what I did felt like I was throwing valuable pearls to pigs. (That's not me calling the atheist podcast host a pig.) He was a good host. He was just an unbeliever. I share the podcast link and my thoughts after...
